Thanks to the presence of large companies of motorcycles and buses, as well as electrical transformers, the business fabric of the region belonging to the metalworking sector is quite diverse, offering a wide network of local suppliers to companies that settle in the territory. Within the most important sectors of specialization of the local business ecosystem are: metal-mechanic and vulcanized parts, carbon fiber and polymers.

Part of the companies of the sector wish to specialize in the production of parts for the aeronautical industry and thanks to this they have created the aeronautical cluster. As a result of this initiative, different parts of aircraft of the national Navy, as well as local airlines, have already been developed.

Thus, the region has a Center for Innovation and Technological Development of Manufacturing and Metalworking “CINDETEMM” which puts at the service of local companies a laboratory of reverse engineering, scan and 3D printing, mechanical vibration bank, analysis thermographic, vibration tester, among others.

For its part, as regards to electric mobility, the Energy Company of Pereira has led this strategy, creating a series of charging stations for electric motorcycles.
